Reliable starting points for the settings people change most often.

Use on-board memory

Create one profile for desktop work and one for games. Keep only the DPI stages you actually use, then save the profile to the device.

Start with 800 or 1600 DPI.
Use 1000 Hz unless battery life matters more.
Test the profile after closing Synapse.

Keyboards · 3 min

Choose a lighting mode

Quick Effects are the simplest option. Studio layers provide more control, but generally require the software to remain active.

Prefer a hardware effect for travel.
Keep brightness moderate on wireless boards.
Export complex profiles before reinstalling.

Headsets · 5 min

Fix audio routing

Set the headset game channel as the default output and verify the microphone separately. Disable duplicate spatial processing while testing.

Check the application-specific mixer.
Use one spatial audio system at a time.
Record a short clip to confirm microphone gain.

Wireless · 4 min

Reduce interference

A 2.4 GHz receiver works best with a clear, short path to the device. A front USB port or extension adapter is often more reliable than the rear of a metal case.

Avoid placing the receiver beside Wi-Fi antennas.
Try a USB 2.0 port if noise persists.
Update receiver and device firmware together.
